Targeting the foundation of success in life— perspective-taking skills, mental flexibility, situational awareness for positive social interactions.

At GrowNOW ADHD, we offer group sessions that are both interactive and engaging, aimed at helping participants build confidence, self-regulation, and social effectiveness in a supportive environment.

EF Social Skills Director

Meet Dr. Gary Gartling

Dr. Gartling has spent years helping individuals develop the essential social executive functioning skills that allow them to navigate relationships and social settings with greater ease. These skills—such as understanding social cues, managing emotions, and adapting to different situations—are critical for building and maintaining positive relationships. His approach focuses on strengthening these core abilities, which are the foundation for successful interactions, both in personal and social contexts.

At GrowNOW ADHD, his goal is to provide participants with practical tools to improve how they interpret social situations, control their emotions, and stay organized and focused during social interactions. He works with the group on developing mental flexibility, the ability to consider others’ perspectives, and emotional regulation—skills that help individuals respond appropriately to social cues, make better decisions, and connect more effectively with peers and others in their lives.

What motivates Dr. Gary is the transformation he sees in participants as they gain confidence and the ability to manage their behavior in challenging social situations. While crucial for social interactions, these skills also extend to other areas of life, helping individuals manage tasks, stay organized, and make decisions under pressure. Whether it’s navigating a conversation or tackling daily responsibilities, these skills are empowering and long-lasting.

Dr. Gary Gartling, PhD, CCC-SLP
Social Executive Function Specialist

“Witnessing participants gain the confidence to navigate social situations and build meaningful relationships is incredibly rewarding. I’m passionate about helping people develop these foundational skills that enhance both their social lives and overall well-being.”

“Before this program, my son would come home everyday and doomscroll on screens. Dr. Gary helped me set effective boundaries on screens, which forced my son our of his comfort zone. Since then, he has sold all of his video game systems back to the store, and used that money on a bike and outdoor experiences with peers.
